ready to retire

well, i'm ready to retire. at least from the job i have now. i don't know what it is, but i'm unbelievably sick of working. i'm not sure if it's the full time, the office setting (complete with the fluorescent light treatment), the fact that i don't use my major at all, or the fact that every person i talk to on the phone at work seems depressed and burned out... but i'm sick of work.

i worked at outback for four years before i got my "real" job, and i kind of miss it. i don't miss the hours, but i miss everything else about working there. i have been thinking for awhile about what i really want to do with my life, and i have come to the conclusion that i want to go to culinary school to be a pastry chef.

it probably sounds kind of outrageous to some people (especially my parents), but i have always loved baking, and i think that it would be awesome just to make beautifully decorated wedding cakes all day. i think that i like baking a lot not only because it's creative, but also because people really like cookies and cakes and delicious desserts. it's amazing how happy a chocolate chip cookie can make someone. (especially my cookies with the secret ingredient)

anyway, i'm hoping to quit my job this summer and hopefully get a part time job in at a bakery or catering place, and start culinary school in the fall. so if anyone needs a wedding cake, let me know!

i dont need a wedding cake, but i'll eat one! and as a people, i'd just like to confirm your guess that we really like cookies and cakes and delicious desserts. is your secret ingredient love? or is it booze? either way: yummy.

seriously though, do it. follow your dreams. why do something for the rest of your life that you dont love? i'll volunteer to taste test your delicious pastries.

This amuses me mainly because I always said when I retire I want to go be a cook somewhere, like a camp or something. Good luck! I'm doing something for fun this summer too, and giving up the waitressing money to go live as a camp counselor
