Something to Ponder
If you read Reddit then there's a good chance you may have seen this already, but for the rest, this article is pretty amazing. Basically, a woman is out paragliding and gets caught up in a storm's updraft and is taken to an estimated 32,000 feet where she blacks out and is covered in ice before coming back down and surviving.
Just think about what that must have felt like. There you are, gliding along at a couple thousand feet, having a good time, when you are just sucked straight up. There's nothing you can do to stop yourself, and you know that if you keep going, there is little chance of survival, between the lack of oxygen and extreme cold. It had to have felt like God Himself was pulling you away from Earth.
Can you imagine what that would be like as you were pulled higher and higher into the freezing darkness? Every breath gives you less oxygen, every moment the air gets colder. What started as God pulling you up to heaven would quickly begin to feel like being pulled backward, straight down into Dante's 9th circle of Hell. I can only imagine what thoughts would be going through my mind.
