20 years English + 1 year German

Yup, that's right, I'm finally 21 today.

Last night, my buddy Simon, his girlfriend and Pancho headed out to a Farin Urlaub concert. For the uneducated, Farin Urlaub is the singer from Die Ärzte, the best German rock band ever. The catchphrase that the Ärzte use to describe themselves is in fact "The best band in the world." So there you have it, they are just that good. Although we came a bit late, I managed to wiggle my way up to the front.

It was sweaty, dark, crowded, and my glasses fell off on several occasions. Note to self: Do not wear glasses to concerts. Not only did I drop my glasses with Sophie up on my shoulders, but they were also covered in a thick, drippy layer of sweat, ensuring that I saw very little that was further than 3 meters in front of me. Luckily, we were in the second row.

On our way back to the StuStadt, I got probably around 21 birthday kisses from my neighbors seeing how it was after midnight. Sucks that I have a midterm tomorrow, or else this is wrapping up to be quite a birthday.

Checking in

Well, I've come to the realization that I can't include every interesting experience in my blog. I've attempted to write an entry for the past few days; however, I always want to include more and more stuff....Eventually I scrap the massive draft and end up with nothing.

Things are running normally over here in Munich, if you could call the crazy life I've been living normal. I've gotten to know my new German roommate pretty well, and we went out for his birthday last friday, saturday, and sunday. Speaking of birthdays, I'm quite excited that mine is coming up soon. My one neighbor seems intent on buying me a playboy bag because it just fits me so well. And, on the plus side, my birthday is during StuStaCulum, which is a gigantic concert festival here in the Studentenstadt. 4 days, 40,000 people per day. I won't be sleeping all that much, and I think I'll have a very interesting birthday party.

Other than that, I'll be posting again pretty soon to brag about Rock Im Park (3-day concert festival in Nuremburg). I'll be able to see REM, Rammstein, Green Day, Queens of the Stone Age......craploads of good bands all on the same weekend.

Peace out, hope finals went well for everyone.

Silly Internet, Trix are for Kids

Well, I've been having internet troubles lately, so I haven't been able to post anything. I got a new WiFi card from the Internet Admin, and I am currently loading all my pictures onto my laptop to upload them.

I hope that my English isn't all that bad. That last entry made sense to me anyway; although, I guess it is kinda confusing about the magical appear-out-of-nowhere forest. I also should add that at the end of the night, I got at least a good-night kiss. But eh. We'll see what happens in the next few weeks because she flies back to Colombia the 1st of June.

Tomorrow is some sort of holiday here in Germany, and we have no classes tomorrow. So...a massive party is definitely in order, and I'm going with one of my neighbors. I'll have to write an entry in influenced later if I'm not too preoccupied with other things. If these pictures ever load onto my laptop, I will post all the links.

However, I don't have too much time because she's probably waiting for me to drop on by....soo........till then guys and gals.

P.S. Go White Sox!!! Best Record in the MLB!!!!!!

Reflections

Well, I've just been getting into the groove of school again. It's been somewhat difficult due to all the distractions of student life here. We've been basically built a bonfire and grilled some stuff every night of this past week. With a never-ending supply of beer, they often run somewhat late.

The main distraction though, would have to be women. However, I am all but ready to just give up on women in general. They are just way too complicated. My last girlfriend and I broke up before my trip to France. A break was definitely in order. I can't say that I haven't enjoyed being single again, but at the same time, an actual relationship is much better in o so many ways. Some women though, are just impossible to understand. The day I got back from France, she gave me a phone call (and had also sent a few texts during that week away). We just chatted for quite some time. A few days later, a few more calls. Due to this, one would think that maybe there was some interest to do something together again. Somehow though, whenever we end up hanging out with the group, we somehow avoid talking to each other almost entirely.

Yesterday though, was the hammer (just bear with the awkward german mannerism). I was in a beer garden with a few English guys, and Simon gave me a call to find out where I was. Apparently, when Luz saw that Simon was talking to me, she snatched the phone out of his hand to chat a bit and to ask me when I was coming. After a short conversation, we headed over the bonfire/grill spot (which we have pimped out with matresses and a couch mind you) only to find that Luz had run home to get ready. Simon apparently disappeared shortly after talking to me. The entire night after that, I couldn't help but notice that she kept looking in my direction as I was talking to another friend of mine, Boriana. However, with the exception of a few short conversations, we still didn't really talk too much privately. When I finally got the chance to talk to her, the conversation didn't last long because she just started speaking spanish to another friend who appeared out of the forest.

At the end of the day, girls are just too complicated, especially the south american ones. After showing interest to get back together and talking to her sister about it, she does nothing but avoid the subject. Meh, sorry for the rant, but it's kinda nice to get it out. Either way things will work out in the end I guess.
