Relax-Its Holiday Inn

I just got home from work. Considering I worked from 6 am till 11 pm, I should technically be sleeping now. But I'm not, thanks to a combination of diet pepsi, a convertible and some rather loud Good Charlotte on my ride home. Sometimes I think my attempts to keep myself awake while driving go a little too far. Subsequently I'm awake, and realizing that I have to be up at a decent hour again tomorrow. People always ask me how I can work so much, do so many back to back shifts and have only 6 hours overnight sometimes. I guess I just love work. Its not the money, though that's a good perk. Its more that it keeps me busy. Running around until I'm exhausted. You don't have time to sit and ponder the mysteries of life while there is someone else to check in, or a guest to get more toast for. No one questions if the smile on your face is fake or not, they don't care. Its easy, there is no effort in my work. Who doesn't like being constantly complimented on things they do? The only scary part is on those rare days when there is no work. When you've caught up on your sleep and your errands and your banking. Then there's no more excuses for not contemplating the mess you've left your life in. On those days I miss the Holiday Inn. They're like my family, except they don't fight, or bicker, or yell. My managers point out if I've made a mistake, and ask me to fix it. At home the mistakes are never as clear, and never as easily fixed. At home things aren't on a computer, they're in someone else's twisted mind. I can't fix what's happened because no one explains what went wrong in the first place. I don't mind if work calls in the middle of the night, it means that someone needs me. Its always nice to be needed, even if its just the Holiday Inn.
